Ann Wagner for Congress

Today’s Keystone is a “hats-off” to a Republican woman running for Congress in Missouri’s 2nd District. Palladian View does not endorse in contested primaries, but we do like to draw attention to Republican women who embody the principle of “Building leaders of tomorrow by empowering women today.” Mrs. Ann Wagner is a shining example of a conservative Republican woman leader.

Ann Wagner rose through the ranks in Republican Party politics. She began as a committeewoman for her local precinct, and served in that position for nine years. She remained in that position even as she served as the Missouri Republican Party’s state chairman, and then for her two terms as the Co-Chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC). In 2010, she ran unsuccessfully for RNC Chairman (one of two women candidates to run—had she won, she would have been the first RNC Chairwoman).

In 2005, Mrs. Wagner was nominated by President George W. Bush, confirmed by the Senate, and sworn into her appointment as the 19th U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. She served in this capacity as U.S. Ambassador for four years.

Mrs. Wagner has chalked up a stellar list of endorsements for her Congressional run that would be the envy of every GOP presidential candidate—the Susan B. Anthony List (because of her pro-life stance), New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, former US Attorney General John Ashcroft, and former Ambassador John Bolton. With these endorsements and an incredible work ethic on the part of Mrs. Wagner and her campaign team, she has proved that Republican women candidates can fundraise at substantial levels.

Mrs. Wagner worked in the private sector in management positions of Hallmark Cards in Missouri. She has also served on several boards that highlight the integral role that faith, charity, and community play in her life —Campfire USA, and Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. She is presently serving on the boards of St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Forest Park Forever, Cor Jesu Academy, the Catholic Student Center at Washington University, and the Washington University in St. Louis International Scholars Academy.

Palladian View has linked Ann Wagner for Congress to our Arch section (Federal candidates) of the website. To see more about her candidacy, or even to donate to her campaign, go to www.annwagner.com.

Palladian View is pleased to spotlight this conservative Republican woman leader who has accomplished much for the Republican Party and our country.
